Horrible service, teamwork is non existent at this place.. Never got my food.. and then they ran out of home fries.. 1.5 hour wait while they told me it was only 30 minutes, being diabetic, I almost passed out... All bad

Great value and large portions for when you are hungry. Close to summit Blvd. Our group had breakfast and would definitely go back. Wait staff was attentive and pleasant.

Food is good and portion sizes are very large. A "small" pancake is about 10-12 inches and a large pancake hangs over the edge of a dinner plate. The biscuits are flakey and good, and the chicken fried steak is crisp on the outside and very tender on the inside.

Some of the best food you will find in Big Bear. If you're there for breakfast, I suggest you try the Avalanche. For lunch, the pastrami is the ticket. Service is very professional.

Amazing food amazing staff

Their food is decent but workers there have poor attitude. They lack any type of enthusiasm and should not work there if they are so willing to show how miserable they are. Suggestion for those who hate the food industry...... get a new job.

An excellent place for a good hearty breakfast, with lots of variety on the menu.

The food was good. I chose The Rail. It was hamburger on sourdough smothered in gravy. Talk about a stick to you breakfast! My wife had the rooster tail which is chicken fried steak. We both agreed that our choices were great. Our food arrived fast and hot. There was only one server there and she was pretty busy. Not exactly unfriendly but you could tell she was harried.

Great restaurant. Can get busy on the weekends so go early. Pancakes are giant!!! And the gravy is awesome. Can't beat the amount of food/ price

Saw no staff wearing masks, occupied tables were close together, lots of people waiting, also no masks.I pointed all of this out to my twelve year old son and asked him what he thought. He said it looks like a good place to catch COVID-19.

Food was good, chefs did a good job, but by the time our food was brought to us, it was cold, saw it on the counter for about 15ish minutes. There was some sort of mix up with who our server was, so the service was basically non existant, and didn't even bring us one of our bloody mary's we ordered.

Went there this morning, super friendly staff. It definitely was busy and they look alittle short staffed but food and service was great. Only wish they had half and half instead of non dairy creamer

This place was awesome. Huge portions, great service, had a nice home feel to it. I loved this place. I got the rooster tail and a bloody Mary. Hella bomb recommend for damn sure.

Hands down one of the best American breakfast places I have ever tried in my life! (And I've tried a lot!) 5 star everything: service, food quality, ambience, and prices! The country scramble and meat lovers omelettes were heavenly - cooked to perfection with fresh ingredients, came in generous portion sizes and were prepared in a matter of minutes!

We chose this cafe because of the great reviews, and it certainly did not disappoint. The pancakes were amazing and it's easy to tell why the Cali Scramble is a local favorite. Once we were seated, the service was pretty quick. It did take a while to get seated, likely because of the weekend crowd. It would be nice if there were a few more places to sit in the waiting area. I would definitely go here again.

Amazing food never had this good of a breakfast before in my life the wait was worth it but was there for an event in big bear so all cafe's/Restuarants were full so beside the long wait it was well worth it

Not impressed with the service or food. Left without trying yesterday. No recognition from servers at all. Decided to try again today. Wish we had not. Only one server, waited for everything. Food was barely mediocre. All the ads we saw made it look so appealing. We did enjoy the homefries. Really need to improve on customer service.

Loved the pancake and omelet. Cold milk and nd warm syrup... that's important. Wheelchair seating ,too. Treat ya like family. Can't go wrong here.

All the food was so good! Unfortunately, when we went, they were down a chef so we had to wait a while to sit and to be helped. We went the next day as well and the place wasn't crowded with flatlanders this time so we got to eat within 30 mins of getting there. The staff were very caring & really had our best interest in mind. The fish n chips were lovely and i'm getting the pastrami sandwich over & over until I die.

Amazing delicious food. Large servings. Coffee is perfect. Great staff. I would have thought the manager Kim was actually the owner because she really steps into her position with accountability and respect for the restaurant. She is well known and loved by the local community, and welcomes the tourists providing comfort, and conversation. No one leaves this place dissatisfied. Its my number one breakfast choice in Big bear.

Right now it looks like just out door dining. Staff is friendly and fast. Great selection for both breakfast and lunch. Cali scramble is good and pancakes are great. Fills up quick as not that many out door tables are available. But if you can wait it's worth it.

Best Breakfast I've ever had!! Steak was so moist, juicy and flavorful! My husband even said that the steak had a lot of flavor and he knows his steak and how to make it.The hashbrown texture was perfect. I ate at the breakfast bar and ordered my family's breakfast to go since they were all still in bed. 9am ish there was no wait, but come 9:30-10:30am many people kept arriving and were standing and waiting. Worth the wait. My husband said the sour dough toast was better at the Teddy Bear restaurant. I had wheat toast and it was delicious with the perfect spread of butter covering the surface, not just the middle.

This place was recommended by a Snow Summit staff member. So my friends and I headed down to this mom and pop family restaurant. This place had a feel at home vibe. The staff members were great and professional. The food was excellent. I recommend biscuits and gravy home fries and eggs. The portions are large enough to feed two people. So come very hungry and enjoy. I would definitely recommend this place to all my friends, that come up in that neighborhood. Cheers!

Good breakfast food if you not watching your food consumption huge portions

Good food, no structure.

45 min to be seated with 4 empty booths. Asked if it was our turn which reminded them we were standing there. Had to grab own menus and seat ourselves. Then had to locate waitress to let her know we were ready to order. Then took over 15 min to get water, OJ coffee, etc. Almost left for McDonald's... Way better service there! Last time we come here.. no food yet but who cares... This place is already a let down. Go downtown instead, don't waste your time and hard earned $. Not sure what the problem was today, but you guys need to figure out a better system, hire and train more staff, and the owner should be here on a Sunday to see what's going on.

Good food with large portion size. If you don't like leftovers it's good to share with someone. Staff is friendly and nice. Plan on getting there early as it tends to get a little packed.

This is a hidden gem at Big Bear Lake. We were very lucky and fortunate to have chosen this place for lunch. We had the pleasure to be attended by the cook (Ray). He was super pleasant. We ordered the meat lovers omelet and the country scramble omelet. Very generous portions. Very considerate price. We came in a UK per hungry and we left the place full, and very satisfied. We are definitely going to come back at this place next time we visit Big Bear. Favorite place for BEST BREAKFAST!!

This place is certainly one of the most attractive restaurants in the neighborhood. Every time I visit this place I am exceedingly glad. They manage their very high level service and the highest level of meals they serve. You always win with this restaurant. Very recommended.

This place has the best breakfasts and service even during this Covid19 experience. If you have to wait a few .inutes be patient- it's well worth the wait!

The Hungry mountain man is a whole lot of food and quite delicious. The mushroom burger was not so delicious and was a bit overcooked. The staff is very nice. I would go back here as I did enjoy most of the food.

Ok, first of all there was 3 of us and we all ordered the same thing. Chicken Fried Steak and eggs. Check the photo! I can't remember if I ever had a more tender steak. It was great. The whole meal was great bravo Grind and Grill. Now for the service. There was only one waitress working when we arrived. She was spectacular. No one waited service was great. Coffee was always filled and she smiled and was there when we needed anything.

We happen to be in Big Bear and decided to try The Grind & Grill after checking some reviews. It was awesome. Great food, friendly staff and really good value for money. My wife and I both tried the French Toast Sandwich, what a delight!

My wife and I's new favorite breakfast place in Big Bear. Typically not a huge wait time, really good food, waaay to large of portions. We'll definitely be returning.

Big portions everywhere, lots of things with gravy. A pancake can feed 2-3 really. Biscuits and gravy. Home fries that would make a priest kick in a stained glass window. Small appetites need not apply. Oh, and gravy. Gets pretty busy at times. Breakfast is on point. Did I mention the gravy? Because they have it. Staff is polite and attentive. ** G-R-A-V-Y **

I thought that the food and service were excellent... Top notch!, However I had a few issues with this place in regards to my family, first of all it seemed to be spring cleaning time, so there were several dirty rugs and cleaning apparatus is in effect while we're eating, which was really no big deal, my major problem was with the locals, there were several sketchy characters coming in and out of the restaurant as we we're eating, regular folks who are coming in and out who seemed to know the owners or workers of the restaurant... Which was also no big deal, however I did not appreciate them spatting filth, cursing and using foul language in front of my children ages 18 months 3 years and 6,... This is unacceptable and not cool... The worst part was that the employees of this business did nothing to negate their nefarious behavior... They looked at my children and just acted like this was normal everyday.... Despite the great food we will not return

Really good food. Great decaf coffee and the sourdough toast was so tasty. Definitely a place to go back to for breakfast
